Pim was born 42 years ago in Rótterdam. He lives with his wife, together with their two children and their horse in a small village in the southwest
of Holland in the province of Zeeland called Vlissingen.
Nowadays he is employed as an ornithologist in a company. He carries out censuses of bird populations and bird banding, amongst other things, for the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Works and other governmental organisations.
The main ornithological interests of Pim are bird migrations, waders, gulls and seabirds.
Pim is the holder of the title of “Digiscoper of the Year 2006”, awarded to him for winning a digiscoping competition organized by Swarovski. The winning photograph was a wonderful picture of a Buff-breasted Sandpiper (Tryngites subruficollis) stretching and surrounded by colourful salt marsh vegetation.
