14- I hope you don’t mind telling us if you have participated in the Swarovski 2007 Competition and if you think you could get another award?

No, I did not participate a second time. First of all I don’t think I could win twice in a row and also I didn’t really take any shot that could compete with this years entries. I may try my luck again next year, you never know!

15- I am sure you are going to enjoy your award this year and you are going to Africa with the rest of the winners. What bird or mammal would you most like to watch or take a picture of?

I have no real preference but Double-banded Courser (Rhinoptilus africanus) is a bird that I would like to see (and photograph) and the same goes for White-tailed Shrike (Lanioturdus torquatus),Blue Crane (Anthropooedes paradisea), Secretarybird (Sagittarius serpentarius) and Pel’s Fishing Owl (Scotopelia peli) but a Leopard would be nice also!

16- Finally, I’d like you to give us your opinion on ASEDI, our non-profit web organization http://www.asedi.org, and our web gallery http://www.naturalezadigital.org.

As an addict to bird pictures I can never see enough galleries and the ones on Asedi look very good. The general level of the pictures seems to be high and fortunately there is a wide choice of species from the different photographers. Couple the quality with the fact that many of those species shown are scarce or rare in the Netherlands and you will understand my enthousiasm.

It has been a pleasure interviewing Pim Wolf. His willingness to assist at any moment and his humility and kindness were the first things I learned about him.

Pim has defined himself as a great lover of nature and a student of birds even more so than a photographer. However, the great knowledge he has of his territory and the birds which live in it, have allowed him to publish several photos in magazines and, as we already know, he has won the Swarovski digiscope competition.

I am sure that, even though Pim had told us he was not going to contribute greatly with regard to technique, this interview is going to be very useful for this and other many aspects for those who have read it.

In this interview we have been shown a different way of using digiscoping by a professional who devotes himself to carrying out bird censuses and documenting them.

To finish I would like to quote a couple of sentences from Pim: “My favourite bird changes every
day” and “Asking yourself questions
and trying to find solutions that
work for you is the best
way to learn”
